YOHaD Celebrate World AIDS Day 2011 in Obio/Akpor and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas, Rivers State, Nigeria.

To mark the World AIDS day 2011 in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, YOHaD mobilized a team of her HIV Counselors/Testers to the Local Government Council Headquarter, the main venue of the event for free HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) services.

There was a presentation on the theme of the year “Getting to Zero” facilitated by YOHaD Program Manager, Mr. Maxwell Ahunanyah, who admonished participants to contribute to make Zero new infection,  Zero new death due to AIDS and Zero Discrimination a reality in the LGA as he encouraged them to utilize the opportunity provided by Obio/Akpor Local Action Committee on AIDS (Obio/Akpor LACA) and YOHaD in making available the free HCT services to know their status as this is the entry point to positive living and “Getting to Zero”.

 

       
   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

           

After the welcome address by the LACA Manager, the LGA Chairman Hon Timothy Nsirim represented by his Deputy Dr Solomon Eke, said the council has not relented in the fight against HIV/AIDS and as such has consistently marked the World AIDS Day in the LGA since the inauguration of Obio/Akpor LACA in 2008 and has fully supported her activities these past years.

There was public awareness and sensitization through a rally which kicked-off at the LGA Council to Choba Park with distribution of IEC material, music, road show and drama amongst other activities.

 
       

YOHaD Executive Director represented the Youth Network on HIV/AIDS (NYNETHA) in a program organized by Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Action Committee on AIDS (LACA) for secondary school students in Ndoni town. In his presentation, he used life skills and Basic facts on HIV/AIDS to address issues on Adolescents Reproductive Health
